William "Bill" Bray

William L. “Bill” Bray age 85, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

William was born on February 15, 1939 to the late Welby Bray and Nettie Ann Dalton Bray in Somerset, Kentucky.

He was a member of Community Harvest Church of God. He enjoyed tending to his yard, working on small engines and worked as a auto body man for over 16 years. He retired from H.T. Hackney after 37 ½ years of employment. He loved to whistle and taught his grandchildren to whistle. He adored his church family, especially the “Gum Bums” as he referred to them as.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Welby and Nettie Bray, brothers: Nathan Bray, Nelson Bray, Denzil Bray, Brent Bray and 4 infant brothers, sisters: Irene Gaines, Carlie Mae Helton and Nancy Lorainne Bray.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 65 years, Brenda Bray, sons: Barry Bray (Rosemary) of Somerset, Ky; Bruce Bray (Kimberly) and Brian Bray (Charlotte) all of Bronston, Ky; grandchildren: Rebecca Herron (Jay) of Lexington, Ky; Cori Lipscomb (DJ) of Pine Hurst, NC; Jacob Bray, Jared Bray, Alanna and Camrynn Bray of Bronston, Ky; Kinsley Perkins, Ethan Perkins, Larissa Perkins, Bryson Perkins, Joshua Walters (Joni) of Somerset, Ky; Chad Walters (Amber) of Somerset, Ky; Cheyenne Bray (Codi) of Whitley City, Ky; along with numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 11am to 1pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. Larry B. Perkins and Bro. John Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jared Bray, Jacob Bray, Josh Walters, Chad Walters, Brayden Burton, Jay Herron, Ethan Perkins, Bryson Perkins and Beau Herron. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for William L. “Bill” Bray.
