Wilbur Smith

Wilbur W. Smith, age 69 of Nancy, Ky. departed this life on Friday, June 18, 2010 at his home.

He was born June 8, 1941 in the Johns Creek community of Pikeville, Ky. to the late Noah and Zella (Coleman) Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired coal miner for M & W Mining Company and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, farming, animals, and his friends and neighbors.

Mr. Smith is survived by Judy (Blair) Smith, whom he married on March 29, 2004 in Somerset, Ky.; a son, Dewayne (and Elizabeth) Smith of Pikeville, Ky.; a daughter, Rhoda Smith of Cynthia, Ky.; two brothers, Floyd Smith of Belleview, Fla. and Alfred Smith of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Fannie Layne of Johns Creek community in Pikeville, Ky. and Lassie Coleman of Belleview, Fla.; four grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Cecil and Sawyer Smith; and a sister, Meldie Layne.

Visitation for Mr. Smith will be Sunday, June 20 at 5 p.m. ET at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. ET on Monday, June 21 at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Chaplain David Green and Bro. Danny Yaden officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
