Virginia Christine Phillippi Padgett
(May 21, 1925 - October 24, 2015)
Virginia Christine Phillippi Padgett, age 90, of Somerset, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Jean Waddle Care Center. She was born in Somerset, KY on May 21, 1925 a daughter of the late Clarence C. and Senia Mae Stephens Phillippi. She was united in marriage to the late Joseph A. Ford who was Killed in Action on the Island of Iwo Jima during World War II. She later was united in marriage to Jack C. Padgett on January 9, 1948. Virginia was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Somerset. She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with family.
She is survived by three sons; Jack Padgett (Susan) of Somerset, KY, Dave Padgett and Chuck Padgett both of Corbin, KY; two daughters; Susan Hadley (Gary) of Jamestown, KY and Libby Weigel (Joe) of Somerset, KY; one sister; Ruth Walters of Dayton, Ohio and In laws; May Phillippi, Laura Boutwell, R.K. Padgett, Inda Kidd; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. One dear friend and helper, Ruby Colyer also survives.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, one son Joe Ford, eight brothers; Howard, Herman, Carl, Herschel, Max,Robert, Charles and Joseph Phillippi, five sisters; Maxine Hood, Catherine Duncan, Irene Hill, Joyce New, and Nancy Richardson.
A service celebrating the life of Virginia Christine Phillippi Padgett will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co. and Crematory with David Pendley officiating. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM and after 8:00 AM on Tuesday until time for services. Burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
