Velma Norene Burton, 83, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018.
She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on January 12, 1935, daughter of the late Glen and Edith Bishop Evans. Velma was a devoted Christian and a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church. She graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1955. She worked at Woodstock Elementary School for a short while as a teachers aide.
She is survived by two sons, Douglas & (Jennifer) Burton of Eubank and Doyle Burton also of Eubank, one daughter, Julie Burton of Somerset, two sisters, Mabel & (Bill) Denney and Ada Eaton, three grandchildren, Jessica & (Shad) Smith, Lucas & (Ashley) Burton and Jacob & (Jamie) Burton and six great-grandchildren, Kobe, Kaelyn and Kyndal Butcher; Elise, Noah and Luke Burton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Allen Burton, who passed away on March 15, 2014, her parents, two brothers, Donald Evans and Marion Evans and two sisters, Donna Sheehan and Ruth Isla Evans.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Shannon officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 9 AM Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund.
