Shirley Virginia Fields, age 95, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 at her son's home.
Shirley was born on July 17, 1921 in Marlboro, Maryland to the late Francis Kerr and William Wesley Brady II. She loved God, her church, and her family. She definitely liked to read but also to crochet, get together with friends, and serve in her church.
She is survived by a son, James L. (and Sharon L.) Fields of Somerset; two daughters, Donna (and John) Byars of Calabash, N.C. and Dale (and Jim) DeRado of Springdale, WA; a sister, Helen Cooksey of St. Charles, MD; five grandchildren, Matthew (and Cynthia) Fields, Daniel (and Tara) Fields, Lisa Jo (and Kevin) Sheilley, Christopher (and Tammy) Byars and Holly (and Steve) Martin; nine great grandchildren, Renee Fields, Reilly Fields, Ryan Matthew Fields, Zachary Fields, Ashton Fields, Joshua Fields, Trae Sheilley, David Sheilley and Rachel Sheilley.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern Eddington Fields, whom she married on July 20, 1940 in Washington D.C. and he preceded her on July 2, 2006; a sister, Ann Blevins; and two brothers, William Wesley Brady III and Calvin Brady.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 10:00am until 12:00pm at First Baptist Church of Somerset.
Her funeral service will follow on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 12:00pm at First Baptist Church with Bro. French Harmon officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Matthew Fields, Daniel Fields, Christopher Byars, Steve Martin, Kevin Sheilley, and Jim DeRado.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
