Shirley Boyd

Shirley Jean Harper Boyd, 84 of Indianapolis, Indiana Passed from this life on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the home of her home in Indianapolis after an extended illness.

She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on August 24, 1938 daughter of the late Beecher Harper and Hettie Russell Harper. She was married to the late Edward Alben Boyd, Sr., in Somerset, KY on June 20, 1955. They were married for 28 years before his death in 1983. Shirley was a kindhearted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Christian faith and enjoyed listening to classical Country music and found joy in checking on her family and friends, she will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by five sisters; Beatrice Harper Hail, Stella Harper Sears, Louise Harper Petrey, Gladys Harper Taylor and Zella Harper Loveless, and a brother; Evert Harper

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved children; Edward Boyd, Jr, Douglas (Laura) Boyd and Linda (Wesley) Sullivan all of Indianapolis, three grandchildren; Sarah Ellen Sullivan, Charles Edward Sullivan and Matthew Wayne Boyd, a brother Melvin Harper of Fredericksburg, Virginia, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 17, 2023 in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co & Crematory. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel.. Interment will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
