Ronald D. Burton, age 62 of Somerset, KY, formerly of Nancy community, departed this life on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on April 22, 1948 in Nancy, KY to Verneda Britt Burton and the late William Burton. He was a security guard with Somerset Frozen Food and a member of Pitman Creek Baptist Church. He loved watching his son dirt track race, hunt, riding motorcycles, and going to church.
Mr. Burton is survived by his wife, Doris Gaines Burton, whom he married on April 11, 1980 in Tennessee; his mother, Verneda Britt Burton; a son, Rodney (and Courtney) Burton of Nancy, KY; two daughters, Teresa (and Pat) Hansel of Somerset, KY and Kathy Smith of Somerset, KY; the mother of his daughters, Marilyn Harris of Somerset, KY; a brother, Robert (and Brenda) Burton of Nancy, KY; nine grandchildren, Braxton Burton, Nathan Keeney, Michael and Airal Girdler, Kyra Smith, Alex, Madison, Evan, and Baily Franklin; three great grandchildren, Braden Keeney, Kiah and C.J. Girdler; a special niece, Alisha Burton; father-in-law, Leo Gaines of Somerset, KY; a stepson, Shawn (and Vicki) Franklin of Richmond, KY; loved like a brother, Denny Britt of Nancy, KY.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Burton.
Visitation for Mr. Burton will be on Saturday, December 4th at 5:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset, KY.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 5th at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Wilson officiating. Graveside service will be held on Monday, December 6th at 11:00 am at the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
