Robert W. "Bob" Carter, age 84 of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on October 25, 1926 in Nicholasville, Kentucky to the late Tilford and Mary Teater Carter. He was a United States Army Veteran from the Korean War Era. Mr. Carter was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was the general manager and partner of Peoples Loan Company. He loved his job in finance and was a former board member at Consumer Finance. He loved fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Kay Wagner Carter, whom he married on August 31, 1964 in Jellico, Tennessee; a son, Bob Roth of Somerset, KY; three daughters, Deedra (and Greg) Donham of Lexington, KY, Chris (and Preston) Dever of Dawson Springs, KY and Deborah (and Bill) Huffman of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Matthew Roth, Adrian Baldwin, Jacob Dever, Jordan Dever, Emily Huffman Faulkner and Alex Huffman.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2011 after 6:00 pm at Immanuel Baptist Church, 808 Bourne Avenue, Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Immanuel Baptist Church with Brother Danny Pace and Brother Don Jones officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bill Skaggs, Allen Price, Beanie Sparks, Doug Choate, Matthew Roth and Alex Huffman. Honorary pallbearers will be Preston Dever, Bill Huffman, Greg Donham and Adrian Baldwin. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
