Randall Sparks

November 27, 1966 — August 19, 2011

Randy Sparks, 44, son of Joan and Ronnie (deceased) Sparks departed this earthly life unexpectedly on Friday, Aug 19 in Fenton, MO of natural causes. He was a loving and charismatic man who loved life for all it presented him and he touched the lives of all who have known him. A true child at heart he walked thru life with an open heart, infectious laugh and protectiveness of family. Randy was born Nov 27, in Hammond, IN and although Randy has been residing in St. Louis for the last few years, he has always called Jabez, Ky home. For better or worse Randy, went to grade school in a 2-room schoolhouse with his dad as his teacher until the 8th grade and graduated from Russell County High School in 1984 where he enjoyed the rough and tumble camaraderie of high school football. After graduation he attended Eastern Kentucky University and graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, Fire Science & Communication.

Randy was fortunate enough to live his childhood fantasies as a volunteer firefighter for Faubush Tri-Co Vol FD and policeman, working alongside friends and family at various points in his career. Randy was a fortunate soul who found the love of his life, Lisa Sontag, in which the two were recently engaged. Randy had a fondness for Scottish culture, you could often see him sporting a kilt and sporran, along with Lisa, at various Scottish functions, and maybe even participating in a little caber toss at a local Scottish Highland games.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Sparks, paternal grandparents Bill & Susie Sparks, material grandfather Lawson Brown, and various aunts and uncles. Family and friends believe that father and son are re-united with each other in a joyous reunion and talking 'tall tales' as they did best. He is survived by his mother Joan Sparks, fiancé' Lisa Sontag (of Missouri), maternal grandmother Mildred Brown, one sister Cynthia, a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, 2 dogs: Lucy and Morrison, and 2 cats: Mongo and Jeepers.

Services will be held at Nancy Funeral Home, 9520 W Highway 80 Nancy, KY, (606) 636-6788. Visitation will be Friday Aug 26 after 6pm and Sat. Aug 27, 9-11am, with funeral services to follow at 11am at the funeral home. A graveside service, where Randy will be laid to rest alongside his dad, will be held at Lakeside Memorial Gardens following the funeral. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choosing or a memorial fund established at any Fifth Third Bank, under the name Cynthia Sparks For the Benefit of Randy Sparks.
