Rachel Redmond

July 1, 1929 — June 21, 2022

Rachel Girdler Redmond made her way home to be with her Lord on June 21, 2022, at the age of 92, surrounded by family. Mom is rejoicing with Dad in heaven now.

Rachel had a servant heart and loved to cook for family and friends. She was an excellent cook and did so as head cook for the Nancy Elementary School many years before retirement. Rachel’s other life commitments were to her family and her church. Rachel cherished her family, and was affectionately called “Nanny” by all the Grands. Rachel was a member and served faithfully for many years and in numerous ways including teaching Sunday School at Chesterview Baptist Church until failing health wouldn’t allow.

Rachel was born July 1, 1929, in Somerset, KY to the late Benjamin and Angie Girdler. She married the love of her life, the late Caudie Redmond, March 5, 1945. They shared life together for 66 years and from that union was blessed with six children, Diana (and Dallas) Davis of Nancy, KY, Doris Simpson of Bronston, KY, Donna (and Allen) Johnson of Richmond, KY, Deborah Reynolds of Somerset, KY, Michael Redmond of Lexington, KY, and Marcus (and Shelly) Redmond of Knoxville, TN; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren. Rachel leaves these along with one sister, Regina Godby to honor her memory.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Caudie Redmond; one sister, Mary Girdler; five brothers Charlie, Frank, Arthur, Ernest, and Cleo Girdler; and two granddaughters, Crystal Caudette Marcum and Samantha Redmond.
