Milburn Tarter

Milburn Tarter, age 96, of Nancy, KY passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

Milburn was born on October 28, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Marcus and Opal Richardson Tarter. Milburn was baptized on August 18, 1940. He was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. He taught an adult Sunday school class for several years and a Discipleship Training class. Milburn was a trustee and an usher for the church and also served on various committees. Milburn was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a life-long love of farming. He enjoyed traveling and visits with friends, especially shut-ins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lois Ann Tarter, who he married on June 4, 1953 in Naomi, KY; one son, Michael Tarter (Amy Roberts) of Nancy; two daughters, Karen (Chuck) Crawford of Lexington; and Tammy Prewitt of Lexington; five grandchildren, Charlie (Trish) Crawford; Ashley (David) Horton; John-Michael Crawford; Tyler (Stephanie) Prewitt; and Jessica Prewitt; and nine great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Tarter and one sister, Grace Turpen Tarter.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 11:00am until 1:00pm, at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will follow on Thursday at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. John Piercy officiating.  Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens
