Meryl Ellis

Meryl J. Ellis, age 72 of Nancy, Ky. departed this life on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at his home. Mr. Ellis was born on Dec. 27, 1939 in Faubush, Ky. to the late Mona (Foster) and Hershel Ellis. He was a retired truck driver for Super Service and attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Mr. Ellis loved to fish, hunt, whittle, play the guitar and make music, and tell stories. He never met a stranger. Mr. Ellis was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Hacker) Ellis, whom he married on Feb. 22, 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons, Donnie (and Kim) Ellis of Nancy, Ky. and Brian (and Amy) Ellis of Somerset; two daughters, Sheila Brady of Independence, Ky. and Sandy (and Randy) Casada of Science Hill, Ky.; three sisters, Wilma (and Delano) Wilson of Faubush, Ky., Judy (and Ronald) Baker of Faubush, Ky., and Kay (and Don) McGowan of Nancy, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Artis Ellis and Lowell "Pizzer" Ellis; and two sisters, Lois Wright and Wanda "Cricket" Wright. Visitation for Mr. Ellis will be Friday, April 6 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with his funeral service to follow at 12 p.m. Bro. Gilbert Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Ky. 42503.
