Maxine Mays

Maxine Mays, age 77, of Somerset, KY, passed away from this life on March 12, 2024.

Maxine was born March 1, 1947, in Dayton, OH to Strong and Dora (Fugate) McKenzie.

She enjoyed camping and shopping till she dropped with her best friend Margie and loved ones.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren.  She loved playing pranks on others, cooking for her family, and eating at her favorite restaurant, Red Lobster. She lived her life to the fullest. She was a member of Rock Lick Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glen B Mays; and sister Brenda Nichols.

She leaves behind to treasure her memory her sons Darrell Mays and Jerry Mays both of KY; sisters Carolyn Naylor (Paul) of TN, Diane Cantrell of Ohio; Brothers Randall of Winchester, Brian McKenzie (Diane) of Ohio; 3 grand-children Logan Strong Mays, Clayton “Cleetus” Lang Mays, Landon John Mays.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation service will be Monday, March 18, 2024, at 11AM in the Chapel at Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service to follow at 1 PM.  Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Somerset, KY.

Pallbearers will be Chad Graff, Tracy McCall, Damon Nichols, Travis Nichols, Andy Naylor and Noah Nichols.  Alternative Pallbearers will be Tyler Nichols and Nick McKenzie.   

Officiant will be Bro. Brad Gover.
