Mary R. Creekmore, 58, a lifelong resident of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life early Monday morning, May 9, 2011 at her home in Somerset.

She was born June 14, 1952 at Somerset, Kentucky the daughter of Arthur and Zelma Randall Denham. Mary was united in marriage to Walter Creekmore on November 29, 1969. Mary's passion in life was her family and taking care of others. She was a retired Registered Nurse (RN) and the owner-operator of Crestview and Somerview Personal Care Homes in Somerset. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She worked in the healthcare industry for over forty years. She started her career as a nursing assistant, obtained a nursing degree at Somerset Community College, and then worked her way into supervisory and administration positions at local healthcare facilities before achieving her dream of owning her own business. She was previously involved in many local and state organizations to further the advancement of healthcare and the livelihood of citizens in this region including actively participating in raising funds to open the local Alzheimers Day Care Center and was certified to teach Nurse Aide and Medication Aide classes. She was on the founding Board of Directors for Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Mary also served on the Pulaski County Solid Waste Board, the Kentucky Employer Council, the Somerset Economic Advisory Comittee. She was actively involved with the Kentucky Association of Healthcare Facilities where she previously served as Chair person of the Association's Personal Care Home Committee. She was named the 2000 Business Person of the Year by the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce. Mary touched many lives, personally and professionally and she will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her.

Mary is survived by her husband, Walter Creekmore; one son, Scott Creekmore; one daughter, Melissa Creekmore; two grandchildren, Kristina Creekmore and Mckenzie Corder; her mother, Zelma M. Denham; one brother, Joe Denham and his wife Janet; one sister, Betty Sue White and her husband Johnie; sister in laws, Nadine and Barbara Denham, all of Somerset; also many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Denham in 1995; eight brothers and sisters, Jerry Denham, Henry Denham, Joyce Ann Denham, Jewel Faye Denham, Janice Bernice Denham, John Edward Denham, Jessie Denham, and Bessie Denham.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm. Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Lange & New Bros. Funeral Home, 603 Monticello Street, Somerset with Bro. Don Jones and Bro. Danny Pace officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening after 5:00 pm. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Memorial condolences have been established to Hospice of Lake Cumberland and donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
