Marvin Byrd, age 78 of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Somerset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on November 17, 1931 in Manchester, KY to the late Millard and Bertha Allen Byrd. He was a retired employee of General Motors Corporation of Hamilton, OH, where he worked from 1952 through 1988. He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1952 through 1954 and was a devoted member of the Church of God. Mr. Byrd was fond of traveling, seeing new places, making new friends and spending time with his family.
Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife, Della Heath Byrd, whom he married on December22, 1973 in Cincinnati, OH; a son, Jeffrey Byrd of Mason, OH; a granddaughter, Desiree Byrd of Mason, OH; four sisters, Helen Huff, Doris Cockerham, Shana Darrell, and Tanya Coomer, all of South Lebanon, OH.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Webb and two brothers, Kelly and Eugene Byrd.
Visitation for Mr. Byrd will be Friday, November 12th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with a funeral service at 1:00 pm. Bro. Roger Dykes will officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard will conduct military honors for Mr. Byrd.
