Mabel Shadoan

Mabel Shadoan, age 76, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Jean Waddle Care Center, Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Mabel was born on May 30, 1939 in Russell Springs, KY, to the late Ward Beecher Thomas and Sophie Bowmer Thomas. She had a passion for singing and playing the piano, and even recorded an album. Mabel also enjoyed gardening, canning and volunteering. Mabel was a member of Chesterview Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Estle Thomas Shadoan, whom she married on October 30, 1960 in Somerset, KY; two sons, Michael Thomas (and Kim) Shadoan of Indianapolis, Ind. and Derek Estle (and Julia) Shadoan of Bowling Green, KY; two sisters, Dottie Durham of Chapel Hill, N.C. and Mirian Smith of Somerset, KY; and one grandchild, Katie Shadoan.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Barbara Buck, Vodella York, Lafon Roy, Clyde Thomas, Lester Thomas, Adrie Thomas, Jason Thomas and Donnie Thomas.

Visitation will be Monday, April 11, 2016 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will follow the visitation on Monday, at 3:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Norman Harper officiating. Interment services will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 10:00am.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Chesterview Baptist Church.

Lake Cumberland Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Mabel Shadoan.
