Lon D. Cummings, age 57, of Somerset, KY, and formerly of Albany, KY, departed this life on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.
Lon was born on July 31, 1959 in New Castle, Indiana to the late John I. Cummings and Shirley "Jean" Bokma Cummings. He was a Clinton County High School Graduate in the Class of 1977. Lon retired from the United States Army in 1994. He was a longtime employee of Hartco Flooring Co. He loved watching good television and eating the good food his wife fixed him. He loved his pet dog "Homer," and he was a good husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Ingrid Cummings, whom he married on May 16, 1980 in Karlstein, Germany; a son, John E. Cummings of Danville; a brother, Don (and Patty) Cummings of Albany; a sister, Peggy Covey of Albany; a half-brother, Donald Cummings of New Castle, Ind.; a half-sister, Martha Dean Covert of Greenwood, Ind.; and four nieces, Grace Cummings, Heather (and Ted) Scott, Jennifer Covey and Renska Covey.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by five half-brothers, Marvin Cummings, Horace Cummings, Raymond Cummings, Neb Cummings and Barnel "Buck" Cummings; and two half-sisters, Imogene True and Opal Ford.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 after 5:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Darry Hatfield officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.
