Lois Tarter

Lois Ann Tarter, age 89, of Nancy, KY, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at her residence.

Lois Ann was born on January 1, 1933 in Faubush, KY to the late Joe and Helen Compton Barker.  She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Lois Ann served the church and community tirelessly, bringing joy and kindness with her into every room she entered.  She was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband, Milburn, on the farm for many years.  She was selfless, always thinking of others first.  Her greatest joy was bringing her loved ones together and hosting family gatherings.  Lois Ann had a passion for traveling with her husband of 68 years, and enjoying visiting friends.  She adored her family and cherished every moment she spent with them.

She is survived by one son, Michael Tarter (Amy Roberts) of Nancy; two daughters, Karen (Chuck) Crawford of Lexington and Tammy Prewitt of Lexington; five grandchildren, Charlie (Trish) Crawford, Ashley (David) Horton, John-Michael Crawford, Tyler (Stephanie) Prewitt and Jessica Prewitt; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Milburn Tarter, whom she married on June 4, 1953 in Naomi, Kentucky and he preceded her on May 23, 2022.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 7, 2022 from 10:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will follow on Monday at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. John Piercy officiating.  Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
