Lois Jean Avera, age 72, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Lois was born on May 28, 1945 in Somerset, KY to the late Kenneth Mounce and Retha Judge Mounce. She was a 1963 graduate of Somerset High School. Lois worked at Palm Beach for 39 years and later was employed by Somerset Independent Schools. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Kendra (and Jerry) Owens of Somerset; one sister, Linda K. (and Charles L.) Latham of Somerset; one granddaughter, Morgan Paige Avera of Somerset; and her special cat, "Gigi" whom she loved dearly.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny Ray Avera whom she married on January 15, 1965 at Langdon Street Baptist Church, and he preceded her on April 19, 2007; and one sister, Dorothy Lee Price.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 7, 2017 after 5:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Don Jones officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
