Leah Fern McClendon, age 87, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab, Somerset, KY.
She was born at Naomi, KY, on November 4, 1935 to Walter Muse and Nannie Holcomb Muse. “Fern” was of the Methodist faith and she attended Cook’s Chapel Methodist Church. She loved life, her family, cooking, and spoiling her children and grandchildren. She was kind and never spoke a harsh word about anyone. Fern worked alongside her husband on the dairy farm and she later owned the Triangle Restaurant where she was well known for her delicious food and wonderful homemade pies.
Fern is survived by one daughter; Sue Thomas (Jerry) Purcell and one son; Bobby McClendon, both of Somerset, KY, one grandson; Brody (Beth) Thomas, four great grandchildren; Keeley Thomas, Dayne Thomas, Cooper Thomas and Macie Dye, one brother; Willard (Joann) Muse and a sister; Novia Oakes
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Edwin Earl McClendon, and 2nd husband, Earl Hacker, and her siblings; Eventus Muse, Amos Muse, Denver Muse, Medith Muse, Montie Daws, Juanita Floyd, Pansey Mosley and Valna Ard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland in memory of Leah Fern McClendon.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 with burial to follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
