Rev. Larry Sears Nichols, age 74, of Eubank, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 21, 2022.
Larry was born on February 13, 1948 in Somerset, KY to the late William Raymond Nichols and Lena Sears Nichols. He was pastor to many churches in Kentucky as a member of the United Methodist Church Kentucky Conference. He was "filling in" as pastor of the Somerset First Church of the Nazarene at the time of his promotion to Heaven. His passion was to reach those who did not know his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He started Arise Ministries to preach the gospel across the country. He ministered in prisons through Arise Ministries with witnessing, preaching, tent revivals, campout for prisoner's children and collecting Christmas presents for the children. All of Larry's life, as a 12 year old, he has been a witness for the Lord. Before full-time ministry, he taught at various High Schools and Colleges. He was an avid tennis player, receiving a full scholarship for tennis at Cumberland College. He has helped coach various sports teams and enjoyed teaching the game of chess, too.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Wanda Jewell Webb Nichols of Eubank; two children, Dr. Joshua (Arynda) Nichols of Somerset and Rachel (Matt) Dickey of Somerset; eight grandchildren, Brandon Nichols, Raylee Nichols, Kyra Nichols, Luke Nichols, Landon Nichols, Jocelyn Grace Beard, Jillian Kensley Beard and Jacqueline Joy Beard; one brother, Tom (Henrietta) Nichols of Somerset; three sisters, Linda (Larry) Vanhook of Somerset, Faye (Jimmy) Fisher of Somerset and Marilyn Tanner of Somerset; and close family member, Jeremy Beard of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and many many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, “Dee Gee” Stephens and Janet Hagley.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
