Kenneth Barnett

October 17, 1925 — November 9, 2016

Kenneth Barnett, 91, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. He was born in Somerset on October 17, 1925 to the late Orville Gilbert Barnett and Vesta Hail Barnett.

Kenneth was a member of the First Christian Church where he was very much involved with the Orwin Men's Sunday School Class. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. He attended the University of Kentucky and later Embry Riddle Aircraft School where he received his pilot's license. He was an aircraft mechanic for Eastern Airlines. Kenneth loved flying and did so up until the last few years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and one of his greatest pleasures was keeping up with UK basketball.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Barnett and a niece, Carol Barnett.

Kenneth is survived by a brother, Donald Barnett of Altamonte Springs, FL; cousins, Joyce Mize and Ronald Hail; nieces and nephews, David Barnett, Ken Barnett and Patti Morris (John) all of central FL and Leisha Young (Ralph) of Springfield, OH. Also surviving are great nieces and nephews, Sarah Almquist, Jonathan Barnett, Matthew Morris and Jessica Greenwell.

Visitation for Kenneth Barnett will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company and Crematory. A celebration of life honoring Mr. Barnett will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Steve Lesher officiating. Interment will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to First Christian Church, Orwin Men's Sunday School Class, 1115 Highway 39, Somerset, KY 42503.
