Karen Hardesty

Karen Elizabeth Hardesty, age 76 of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Hospice of Lake Cumberland.  She was born on June 18, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN to Alden Gay and Janet Williams Gay.  Karen was a Christian and a member of Cross Connection Church.   She will be remembered as a very social person who loved to read and travel.  On December 21, 1968, in Shelbyville, KY, she married her husband William S. “Bill” Hardesty and they shared 44 years of marriage prior to his passing on May 21, 2013.   Karen worked as a Quality Control Supervisor at TTAI until she retired.

Survivors include one son; Mike (Angela) Hardesty of Monticello, one daughter; Beth (Steve) Wheet of Science Hill, six grandchildren; Cody Hardesty, Kay Lee Hardesty, Savanna Wheet, Jacob Wheet, Ashley Wheet and Emily Wheet, two great grandchildren; Kynlee Wells and Novah Wells, a brother-in-law; Curt (Lynda) Hardesty of Louisville and multiple nieces and nephews and many friends who are saddened by her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and one sister and brother-in-law; Linda (Ralph) Patterson of Waddy, KY

Visitation for Karen will be on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY  42503.

The funeral service will follow at 12:00 on July 7, 2023 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Sawyers officiating.  Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
