Juanita Kennedy

Mrs. Juanita Burnett Kennedy, age 98 of Berea, Kentucky, formerly of Somerset and the widow of the late Porter Glen Kennedy, passed from this life on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at her residence.

She was born on December 4, 1922 in Steubenville Community of Wayne County, Kentucky, daughter of the late Lee Burnett and Mary Dobbs Burnett.  Juanita was a member of the 1941 last graduating class of the Mill Springs High School in Wayne County. She was married to Porter Glen Kennedy on September 16, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky.  They enjoyed 67 years of marriage before his death in 2011.

Juanita was a loving, kind and generous person and always enjoyed helping others.  Her career in retail management was filled with laughter and meeting new friends.  She was the manager of the S & H Green Stamp Store for several years and also worked as a clerk at Roses Department Store.  She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the First Baptist Church of Somerset, where she taught the 9 years old Sunday School class for 12 years.  She loved seeing children accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, it was so rewarding for her.  She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings; Hoyt Burnett, Howard Burnett, Forrest Burnett, Ruby Burnett Reed, Joseph Burnett and Mary Helen Bell.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, 2 beloved daughters; Joyce (Sam) Carneal of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Glenda (Rick) Brammer of Berea, Kentucky, her grandchildren; Kim (Kent) Sanders of Winchester Tennessee, Sam Carneal and Shawn Crouch of Lexington, Kentucky, Kristy (Andrew) Goins of Lexington, Kentucky and Kathy (Jeff) Mounts of Berea, Kentucky, 2 great-grandchildren; Aubrey Mounts and Abigail Mounts of Berea, Kentucky, 2 brothers; Harold (Marlene) Burnett of Crestwood, Kentucky and Ed (Judy) Burnett of Naples, Florida, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company.  The Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Pendley officiating.  Interment will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Her beloved nephews and grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
