Joyce Dalton Carter

Joyce Malena Dalton Carter, age 89, of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Jean Waddle Care Center, Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Joyce was born on May 5, 1935 at Waynesburg, KY to Acton Routin and Stella Walls Routin. Joyce was of Baptist faith and a member of East Somerset Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family. 

Survivors include two sons, Edward Dalton (Christy) of Bluffton, SC and Greg Dalton (Sherry) of Somerset; one daughter, Linda Dalton Edwards of Ferguson; five grandchildren, Ashley Parrish (Scott), Kimberly Dalton, Stephen Dalton, Tyler Dalton and Jimmy Prather (Amber); six great grandchildren, Addison Parrish, Keaton Brumley, Lyric Brumley, Aspen White, Lily Prather and Conner Prather; one brother, Jim Routin (Shirley) of San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews and extended family who are saddened by her passing.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Acton and Stella Routin; her first husband and the father of her children, Herman Dalton; her second husband, Harold Carter; her son-in-law, John Edwards; and eight brothers and sisters.

Visitation for Joyce Carter will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42503. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 on Friday, June 21st at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Darvie Fenison officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
