Jasper Combs

Jasper M. Combs, age 89, of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital, in Lexington.
Mr. Combs was born on March 23, 1928, in Jackson County, Kentucky, son of Albert and Rosa Hacker Combs. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He married Wilma Sewell on December 29, 1962, in Liberty, Indiana. Mr. Combs was a retired machine operator with the General Motors Corporation. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bronston, and enjoyed mechanics, carpentry and gardening.
He is survived by his step-son, Charles David Sewell, of Winchester; his sisters, Lina West, of Dayton, Ohio, and Elizabeth Ann Moore, of Union, Ohio; his step-grandchildren, Shari Sewell, of Winchester, Ginnie Bond, of New York, New York, and Jeff Bond, of Winchester; one great-granddaughter; two great-grandsons; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Combs is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma S. Combs; his step-daughter, Vicki Sewell; and his sisters, Pauline Wagner, Edith Parsley and Kathleen Estridge.
Visitation will be Monday, March 19, 2018, after 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Company.
A Celebration of the Life of Jasper M. Combs will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Tony Hall officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Travis Bond, Blake Bond, Eric Moore, Jeff Bond, Alvin Morrow and Melvin Roland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
