Janis Whitaker

Janis Kathleen Whitaker, age 75, of Nancy, KY, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at her residence surrounded by family.

Janis was born on April 18, 1949 in Somerset, KY to the late Virgil Garner and Ruth Shepperd Garner. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. Janis loved her family and lived her life for them. 

She is survived by her children, Noelene Whitaker of Nancy, Johnathan (Crystal) Whitaker of Somerset, James (Vicky) Whitaker of Phoenix, AZ, Jesse (Ashley) Whitaker of Lebanon, TN and Tabitha (Myrtie) Keith of Nancy; one brother, Linzie Garner of Nancy; one sister, Marie Frye of Nancy; five grandchildren, Logan Whitaker, Tanner Whitaker, Kathrine Keith, Emma Keith and Carson Whitaker.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Lynn Whitaker, who preceded her on October 13, 2001; and five brothers, John Will Garner, Edgar Marion Garner, Harvey Garner, Larry Garner and Layton Garner; and one son-in-law, Daniel Fleagle.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Sawyers officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
