Janice Gray

Janice Flora Maple Gray, age 79, of Somerset, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Janice was born on August 29, 1938, in Layfayette, Indiana, daughter of William Page and Mildred Maple. She earned her Master's Degree Summa Cum Laude from Ball State University, where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. Janice was a retired teacher and retired secretary for Intrepid Home Health. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Somerset. Janice loved to read, listen to music and work crossword puzzles. She was a member of the community choir and the First Christian Church Choir. Janice loved playing with her beloved cats.
She is survived by her daughter, Dian Higginbotham (Chris), of Statham, Georgia; her son, Alan Wheeler (Kristin), of Winterville, Georgia; a special, loving friend, Betty J. Carter, of Somerset; and her grandchildren, Heather Miller, of Cleveland, Tennessee, Caitlin Risley (Shane) and Wade Higginbotham, both of Statham, Georgia, and Hannah Wheeler and John Wheeler, both of Athens, Georgia.
Preceding Janice in death are her parents; and her grandson, Clint Higginbotham.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at the First Christian Church of Somerset.
A Celebration of the Life of Janice Flora Maple Gray will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the church, with Rev. Steve Lesher officiating. Inurnment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Christian Church of Somerset.
