James Stevens

James Stevens age 87, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at his home.

James was born on August 18, 1936 to the late James Ondes Stevens and Eva Leona Whitaker Stevens in Rockcastle County, Kentucky.

He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. He was a farmer, an auctioneer at Ford Brothers Realty and Auction and retired from Cumberland Wood and Chair.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Leona Stevens, son, Rick Stevens, brothers, Everett and Orville Stevens, sisters, Wanda Todd, Nadine Taylor and grandchild, Jamie Stevens.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 68 years, Maxine Barker Stevens, daughters, Debbie Mick and Pam Harris (Mike) all of Somerset, Ky; grandchildren, Jessica Boyd (Lucas), Chris Baker (Misty), Robbie Baker (Stephanie), great-grandchildren, Braxton and Haylee Boyd, Brody and Bentley Baker, Carter Stevens, Hunter Baker, Kyndal and Kailyn Henderson, Jaxson, Jasmine and Jaci Peavy; along with a host of friends and family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11am in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. Ron Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Chris Baker, Robbie Baker, Brody Baker, Carter Stevens, Lucas Boyd and Braxton Boyd. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for James Stevens.
