Harold Townsend

Harold H. Townsend, age 82 of Somerset, KY departed this life on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on March 9, 1928 in Birmingham, AL to the late James Otto and Eula Barfoot Townsend. Mr. Townsend was a United States Army veteran of WWII, a retired technician for the U. S. Postal Service, and he had worked for the Somerset Holiday Inn. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he had sung in the choir, served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and custodian. He loved genealogy and working outdoors. Mr. Townsend was a loving father and grandfather.

Mr. Townsend is survived by his wife, Betty Daulton Townsend, whom he married on July 17, 1948 in Birmingham, AL; a daughter, Donna Jo Gossett (and husband, Roger) of Somerset, KY; a grandchild, Joseph Daulton Marlow; a brother, James Otto Townsend Jr. (and wife, Jenny) of Oneonta, AL; and a sister, Bonnie Bae Bruce (and husband, Jack) of Birmingham, AL.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant child; a sister and her husband, Gwyneth Colleen (and Bill) Jones.

Visitation for Mr. Townsend will be Sunday, January 30th from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Highway 80, Somerset.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 31st at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Hines officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
