Gladys Weaver, age 87, of Burnside, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Gladys was born on September 14, 1928, the daughter of the late Charles Ephriam and Sarah Alice Phillips Mercer.
She married George Weaver, in Somerset, on October 9, 1949. Gladys loved to crochet and to garden. She enjoyed canning and cooking. Gladys was a member of Tateville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, George; her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Bob DeLong, of Springboro, Ohio; her sister, Ruby Shelton, of Florida; and her grandchildren, Brian Blevins, Amanda DeLong and Tyler (and Kryssi) DeLong.
Preceding Gladys in death are her parents; her son, Gary Lee Weaver, who passed away in January of 1993; her seven brothers, John Mercer, Lonnie Mercer, George Mercer, Estil Mercer, Howard Mercer, Clarence Mercer and Thomas Mercer; and three sisters, Zora Griffin, Vina Gilmore and Effie Mercer.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.
Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 noon, in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Troy Merrick officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Tateville Baptist Church.
