Fairzena Jones

Mrs. Fairzina Horn (Mary) Jones passed from this life and was freed from all earthly pain and sorrow on Thursday morning, October, 15, 2015, with family and Hospice by her side. Born March 15, 1929, to the late Alfred Horn and Susan Fairzina Blevins Horn in Richmond, Kentucky, she was the middle of eleven children.

She is survived by one sister, Florence Jones of Brookville, Ohio. Fairzina was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Arlton, Earl, and Clyde Horn, and by sisters, Thelma Broughtman, Dorothy Carter, Louise Woods, and Violet Pittman.

She was blessed with one child, Julian Edward Jones (Cosby), who passed from this life on July 7, 1993. She was also preceded in death on December 8, 1999, by her late husband, William Edward (Bill) Jones, retired First Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army, whom she married in 1951, by driving cross-country to Fresno, CA, with her son and mother-in-law, Mae Gross.

Fairzina leaves behind to miss her terribly, a grandson, Jamey Lynn Jones and grand-daughters, Stephanie Ann and Randi Michelle Jones, all of Somerset. She was preceded in death by a sweet baby grandson, Julian Edward Jones, Jr., who passed at six months of age on October 12, 1970.

She also left to mourn her, a daughter-in-law and surrogate daughter, Lena Mae Owens; great grand-children, Sydney Destin Jones-Reynolds, Jacob Scott Dylan Reynolds, Kaitlyn Lee Jones, Aubrey Nicole Jones, Alyssa Breanne Jones, and Mia Fairzina Reynolds. She also leaves special nieces Carol Angel, Fairzina Gail Agee, Billie Jean Plummer, and Gina Lewis, and nephews, Jr Agee, Robert Daniel Woods, Greg Agee, and Lee Pittman. Her surviving in-laws, both, Cosby and Jones will also carry fond memories of her, as well as special friends and neighbors, Alfa Huddleston, Amy Ikerd, and MaryAnn Callarman.

Anyone who knew her, knew that her grandchildren and their babies were her life's devotion. Her passions and interests included the arts of painting, drawing, and writing in which she returned to school for in the early 90's, attending Somerset Community College on a Donovan scholarship. She also loved music and took up piano lessons in her mid-life. She was involved in the local bowling leagues in years past, and was an avid jewelry buff, both selling and collecting, she won awards from Sarah Coventry Jewelry in top sales. Fairzina enjoyed arts such as quilting and crochet as well, and was an excellent seamstress after going to school for design in Connecticut, before Mr. Jones' retiring to Somerset, from the military. She was a seamstress for Bridal World and retired from Super X-Revco-CVS and then again from the Pulaski County Alzheimer's Center.

A Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, October 19th, 2015 at the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family of Mrs. Jones will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 10:00 a.m. until time for services, Monday, October 19th, 2015.


Any memorial donations should be made to the Alzheimer's Association to aid in funding for research, awareness, support, and especially continuing education and training for the medical community in treating patients who have this terrible disease.
