Evelyn Slavey

Evelyn H. Slavey, age 94, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Somerset Nursing and Rehab.

Evelyn was born on October 2, 1925 in Pulaski County to the late Rev. Lonnie Meece and Bertha Meece. She retired as a seamstress from Palm Beach after 41 years of service.  She was a member of Denham Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sondra Sanders (and James Elliott) of Science Hill, KY; two brothers, Vestal R. Meece of Somerset, KY and Joseph R. Meece of Crystal River, FL; two sisters, Berdina Brinson of Hamilton, OH and Doris Ann Brinson of Somerset, KY; and a host of additional family and friends.

Along with her parents, Lonnie and Bertha Meece, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Slavey, whom she married on August 21, 1947 in Somerset, KY and he preceded her on January 9, 2014; two brothers, Corlis Wesley Meece and Arnold F. Meece; one sister, Ruby Mounce; and three infant sisters, Odena, Jerlena and Lois Meece.

A private service will be held for the immediate family at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griffith officiating.  A private Graveside service will follow for the immediate family at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
