Eugene New

Eugene New, age 84, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Eugene was born on October 9, 1935 in Wayne County, KY to the late Robert New and Dorothy Morrow New.  He was a member and Deacon of White Oak Baptist Church.  Eugene was also a Gideon Chaplain.  He worked at Lees Ford as a manager for over 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Lou Sloan New, whom he married on May 2, 1955 in Somerset, KY; two daughters, Jann (and Johnnie) Cundiff of Nancy, KY and Lojuanna (and Ritchie) Roberts of Somerset, KY; two brothers, Junior (and Norma) New of Union City, IN and Jason (and Jeraldine) New of FL; three grandchildren, Kara (and Terry) Prather, Dirk (and Sarah) Cundiff and Ryan (and Andrea) New; and seven great grandchildren, Ella Cundiff, Sofia Cundiff, Isabell Cundiff, Maggie Prather, Wade Prather, Penelope New and Ethan New.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Eugene New; one brother, Voyce (and Betty) New; and two sisters, Joyce (and Kenneth) Dishman and Ima Jean (and Edgle) Shelton.

A private service will be held for the immediate family at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.  A private burial will also be held for the immediate family at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Gideon Bible Memorial Fund.
