Edwin G. Whitis, 72, of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life into God's arms on Friday, December 2, 2016, surrounded by love.
He was born in Somerset on September 21, 1944 to James and Mary Bell Goff Whitis.
Edwin married Carolyn Godbey on October 12, 1968 and they celebrated 44 years before her passing in 2013. This marriage brought two children, Lorna & (Don) Haynes and Rodney & (Sherri) Whitis, two grandchildren, DJ Haynes and Amanda Haynes, and two granddoggies, Derby and Myah.
Edwin is survived by his children, grandchilden, siblings... Edna Floyd of Lexington, KY; Mary & (Dan) Mink of Mt. Vernon, KY; James & (Ernestine) Whitis, Bob & (Betty) Whitis, Margaret Poindexter, Paulette & (Morris) Murphy, Harold Whitis, and Viola Pike all of Somerset, KY; Floyd Godbey of Dayton, OH, Gladys Lesch of Louisville, KY, Norma Wilhoite of Anderson, IN, and Ben & (Ina) Godbey of Somerset, KY; a good friend, Linden Dyer, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends to mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carolyn' his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wallace and Nancy Godbey; his siblings, Carl Whitis, Maxine Johnson, Herbert Whitis, Lena McQueen, and Pearl Hall; and a brother-in-law, Grystal Godbey.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Butt officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Visitaiton for Mr. Edwin G. Whitis will be after 6 PM Monday, December 5, 2016 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
