Dorothy Muse

June 13, 1919 — February 28, 2017

Dorothy Muse, age 97, of Nancy, Ky passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.

Dorothy was born on June 12, 1919 in Naomi, Ky to the late Orville and Sadie Tarter Flynn. She worked with Marcus on the dairy farm for thirty years. She and Marcus then worked with the Corps of Engineers at Cumberland Point for the next twenty years. She had a card and track ministry of inspiration to many people. Dorothy was a very active member of the Republican Party. She loved her cats JoJo and Allie, growing flowers, feeding birds, sewing, deer hunting, and cooking. Dorothy mostly loved having her family together and spending time with them. She prayed for each and every one of them by name each morning and night. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Nelva (and Jim) Blanton, of Nancy, Sharon (and Jimmy) Dalton, of Nancy, Lorie (and David) Hines, of Science Hill; grandchildren, Jeania Roy Hall, Matthew Dalton, Tracy (and Doug) Boyd; great grandchildren, Michael (and Tina) Garner, Mark (and Lana) Ard, Danielle Hall Flynn, Karen Hall, Allison Boyd; great great-grandchildren, Dylan Scott, Emma, and Addison Hall, Luke Marcus Flynn, Trevor Ard, Cody Dalton, Caleb and Mason Ramsey; like a daughter, Tammy Tarter Prewitt; and a host of nieces, nephews and family members who loved her dearly.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Muse; son, Dewayne Milburn Muse; great grandson, Scott Hall; son-in-law, W.T. Roy; and a granddaughter, Kathy Jo Roy Ard.

The family wishes to express a great gratitude to Diana Williamson and Christine Dodson of Nancy Family Practice for their loving care.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be Friday, March 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Barker and Bro. Roger Weddle officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Michael Garner, Mark Ard, Casey Dalton, Danny Denham, Weyneth Flynn, Rick Muse, Steve Muse, Billy Barker, Donald Muse, Wayne Pierce, Mike Patterson, Tom Wilkerson and Dennis Pengelly. Music will be provided by Vernie McGaha and the Crossroads Quartet.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Gideon Memorial Bible Plan or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

Southern Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
