Donald Denney

Donald Ray "Don" Denney, 54, of Science Hill, KY., passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Somerset, KY on November 12, 1956 to the late J. C. and Lavan McDonald Denney.

Don was a graduate of Somerset High School Class of 1974 and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University Class of 1979. He was a regular member of First Baptist Church for many years and more recently attended various churches and was more spiritual than religious. Don had a deep love for sports and coached dozens of youth teams over the years. He was a member of the 1974 Somerset High School State Championship Baseball Team. Don had a passion for fitness and weightlifting and at one time held the Kentucky State amateur Bench Press record for the 198lb. weight class. He was a recreational pilot with multiple jet and helicopter ratings. As proud as he was of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of being a father to his sons.

Don is survived by his sons: Joel Casey and Robert Logan Sullavan Denney both of Science Hill, KY. He is also survived by his brother, Douglas Wayne (Rhonda) Denney of Somerset, KY; niece, Nicole Denney and nephew, Shaun Denney. Don is also survived by many great friends throughout his life.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Visitation for Don will be held Wednesday, May 4 after 6:00pm at the chapel of Somerset Undertaking & Crematory and Thursday, May 5 after 9:00am at First Baptist Church until time for services.

A celebration honoring the life of Don will be held Thursday, May 5 at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church with Bro. David Bullock officiating.

Interment will be in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
