David Rodriguez

David Heron Rodriguez of Somerset, died in his home on July 16, 2016. He was 74 years old.

David was born in Dinuba, California in 1941 to Tony and Viola Rodriguez. He joined the United States Navy at seventeen and he and his wife Shirley were married in 1967. Together, they graduated from L.I.F.E. Bible College in 1973 and David later obtained his Bachelor of Theology degree from Vision Christian University.

David was a truck driver by trade and worked as a Direct Care Staff member at Communities of Oakwood after moving to Somerset eleven years ago. He was a Christian who ministered to many during his lifetime, including men on Skid Row, church youth, and nursing home residents. He served as a Pastor and Associate Pastor and was a dynamic preacher. David was also known for being a prayer warrior and encourager.

David is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Shirley Ford Rodriguez of Somerset; daughter, Lori Rodriguez Page & (Kenneth) of Bradenton, FL; daughter, Shanna Vidal & (boyfriend, Salar Farshi and son Rupert Farshi) of Somerset; granddaughters, Kayla and Alyssa Page of Bradenton, FL; brother; Anthony "Tony" Rodriguez of Dinuba, CA; sister, Judy Brightwell of Reedley, CA; and sister, Nora Rodriguez of Dinuba, CA.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Perkins officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens with military honors by American Legion Post #38.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
