Charles Whitaker

Charles Ray Whitaker, age 79, of Ferguson, KY, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at his residence.

Charles was born on July 1, 1943 in Mt. Victory, KY to the late Robert Whitaker and Mazie Farmer Whitaker.  He worked at Springfield Laundry in Ohio for 41 years. Charles was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing.   

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty seven years, Loraine Ping Whitaker of Ferguson; two sons, Curtis Whitaker of Ferguson and Jeff Whitaker of Ferguson and a bonus son, Tony Whitaker of Ferguson; one brother, Sam Whitaker of Somerset; three brothers-in-law, Don Ping, Richard Ping and Gerald Ping; four sisters-in-law, Marie Hudson, Thelma Phillips, Linda Mefford and Alberta Miller; a special niece, Sherry Cash; a special nephew, David Russell; and several other nieces and nephews and other family members.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Whitaker and Russell Whitaker; three sisters, Shirley Merritt, Iva Dean Russell and Judy Goodin; two infant siblings, Bobby Joe Whitaker and Beulah Whitaker; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willie (Nora) Ping; six brothers-in-law, Ed Hudson, Ronnie Polston, Raymond Phillips, Glen Mefford, Carnelle Ping and Elmer Brown; four sisters-in-law, Delores Ping, Doris Daulton, Verla Brown and Zena Ping; one nephew, Jeff Hudson; one niece, Trena Smith; and a very special niece, who they loved like a daughter, Kim Ping Haygood.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will follow on Thursday at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Justin Blosser officiating.  Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.  Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
