Mrs. Bon Ami "Bonnie" Isaacs Halcomb, age 82, departed this life on Sunday, February 12, 2012 surrounded by her loving family and friends at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington from complications following heart surgery. She was born May 20, 1929 in Rockcastle County to Myrt and Nettie Evans Isaacs. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Halcomb. One daughter, Lana Halcomb Crawford and one son Dennis "Denny" Halcomb, II and four grandchildren: Zachary Isaac Crawford, Tiffany Lanae' Crawford, Audrey Halcomb and Grant Halcomb all of Somerset. One sister, Jannie Sowder of Mt. Vernon. A brother-in-law Zade Mc Clure of Mt. Vernon, Sister-in-Law Bernice Halcomb of Danville, Sister-in-law Sarah Edna Halcomb of Hamilton, OH and Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law Floyd and Lucille Halcomb of Somerset and a host of nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. She also was blessed with many loving neighbors and friends throughout her lifetime. She attended the Walnut Grove Church of Christ and was a member of the Blue Springs Church of Christ. Mrs. Bonnie was a Kentucky Colonel. She was the former owner of The City Café, Twice as Nice Dress Shop and operated the Greyhound Bus Station in Mt. Vernon. She was a former employee of Parker Seal in Berea and Alteration Manager for Dawahare's in the Florence Mall. She was the first Police Woman with the Mt. Vernon City Police Department and held that position until the family moved to Somerset in 1978. While living in Somerset she served as a Precinct Chairman for Pulaski County. She also held various offices with the Pulaski County Women's Club and Pulaski County Lincoln Club. She enjoyed politics, sewing, making quilts but most of all caring for her grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law James Patrick Crawford, Five brothers: Cossie, Emerdale, M.E., Delbert and Hubert Isaacs. Four sisters: Rekel Mc Clure, Clercy Renner, Zora Bullock and Evie Morris. Family will receive friends at Pulaski Funeral Home on Thursday, February 16TH after 5 pm. Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 17, 2012 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Marcus Reppert and Bro. Marvin Cromer officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Zachary Crawford, Scott Trotter, Jeff Hunt, Preston Sowder, Sammy Ford, Doug Barry, Paul Dailey, and Mark Mc Ferron. Honorary Pallbearers: Floyd Halcomb, Lawrence Bullock, Garlin Dotson, Clifford Jasper, Roy Hinklin and Lester "Bud" Abbott. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Halcomb.
