Ardyth Ray Prather, Jr., age 66, of Science Hill, Kentucky passed away on November 7, 2023 at his residence.

He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on December 27, 1956; son of the late Ardyth Ray Prather, Sr. and Mary Margaret "Moogie" (Sexton) (Prather) Hafley.

He was a graduate of Somerset High School, a member of the Somerset Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Oleika Shriners, and Knights Templar. He retired from Crounse Corporation River Transportation as a Riverboat Captain after 35 years of service. He was a member of Ferguson Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years JoAnn Marie (Hunt) Prather; a daughter Brandi Prather; one grandson; 4 granddaughters including Bennett Tucker, Bryce Tucker, and Bradley Tucker; and one great granddaughter; a sister Debbie (Prather) Knecht and her husband Tom Knecht; nieces Chastity (Knecht) Welsh and her husband Adam Welsh and Rachel (Knecht) Shomate and her late husband Daniel Shomate; stepfather Dallas Hafley; and great nieces and great nephews

He was preceded in death by parents Mary Margaret "Moogie" (Sexton) (Prather) Hafley and his son Ardyth Ray Prather III "Trae".

Pallbearers will be: Tom Knecht, Sammy Holloway Sr, Sammy Holloway Jr, Lynn Cooper, Billy Newell, David Moss, Adam Welsh

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 1, 2023 at First Baptist Church with Pastor James Barleston, Pastor Steve Dunn, Brother Steve Bates officiating.

Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends after 11:00 AM on Friday, December 1, 2023 at First Baptist Church until time for services.
