Stella C. Stancil Held, age 81 of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Mrs. Held was born on December 3, 1937 to John William Stancil and Icy Myrle Todd Stancil in Spruce Pine, Alabama.
Mrs. Held had several hobbies that she enjoyed including, camping, nature walks, family picnics, and playing the piano especially in church. She served in several positions in various organization during her lifetime including being a Youth leader at Oil Springs United Methodist Church, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce in Middlesboro, Secretary at Somerset First United Methodist Church, Director of the Salvation Army outreach in Somerset, secretary at Pikeville College and working as a teacher assistant at Oil Springs Elementary. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, John William Stancil; mother, Icy Myrle Todd Stancil; brothers, Tulon “Red” Stancil and Arnold Stancil.
Mrs. Held leaves behind to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Richard Held, Sr.; son, Richard Held, Jr. (Michelle); daughters, Susan (Rudy) Garrett, Sharon (Scott) Howard, and Pamela Held; twin sister, Della (Philip) Rose; grandchildren, Andrea Bagwell, Beth Bagwell, Blake Holiday, JennaFaye Thacker, Byron Howard, Michael Held, Adam Howard, Aaron Crutcher and Claire Howard; great grandchildren, Garrah Vanover, Zachary Reynolds, Brianna Reynolds and London Thacker; Along with a host of other friends and family members.
Visitation for Mrs. Held will be Friday, December 21, 2018, from 10 A.M. until 12 Noon in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 21, 2018 at Noon in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Jasper, Rev. Paul Wiliams, and Pat Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
