Marvin Young

September 20, 1939 — January 10, 2020

Marvin Young, age 80, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center.

Marvin was born on September 20, 1939 in Lincoln County to the late Elmer Young and Lillie Hale Young.  He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and retired from Crane Plumbing.  He loved music, playing his guitar, feeding the deer and birds behind his house, gardening, his flowers and watching his grandchildren play sports.   Marvin was the former Pastor at Harvest Time Assembly of God in Somerset, KY and Whitley City Church of God of Prophecy in McCreary County.  He never met a stranger and always put others before himself.  He loved his Lord and his church family.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Iva Caudill Young, whom he married on March 29, 1958 in Waynesburg, KY; three daughters, Valerie Young Beach of Independence, KY, Susan (and David) Neely of Bradenton, FL and Sheila (and Mike) Wilson of Somerset, KY; four grandchildren, Lindsey Atchley, Brian Neely, Joshua Wilson and Makayla Wilson; four great grandchildren, Allison Atchley, Riley Neely, Holden Neely and Cooper Wilson; and three special caregivers, Debbie Whitis, Kim Dowell and Gerald Brake.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Elmer Young Jr., Jesse Young, William Sexton, Mae Gerkey, Dorothy Ramey, Robert “Bob” Young, Irene Fields and Lola Bea Miracle.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Harvest Time Assembly of God, 634 Old Monticello Road, Somerset, KY 42503.  A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 10:00am until 11:00am at Harvest Time Assembly of God.

His funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 11:00am at the church with Pastor Steve Mullins and Bro. Jerry Burnett officiating.  Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the Gideon Bible Memorial Fund.
