Irene Ard

Irene Beshears Tarter Ard of Somerset, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2018, having attained the age of 91 years plus 14 days.

Irene, the daughter of James and Alta (Merrick) Beshears was born in Wayne Co., Kentucky on October 4, 1927. She was one of eleven children. Irene attended the Ard School where she graduated the 8th grade; during her time of growing up in the rural community of Wayne Co., there was no transportation to the closest High School in Somerset and Nancy High School was not yet established, hence her 8th grade education.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rupert Russell Tarter in February of 1996; and her second husband, Clifford Ard in 2014.

Irene and Russ Tarter married in August 1949 in Jamestown, Kentucky. Soon after they moved to Dayton, OH then onto Brookville, OH where she ran a beauty shop and was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church in Dayton, OH. After retirement in 1986, they moved back to Somerset. She loved the Golden Years program and her Sunday School class at East Somerset Baptist Church, where she was an active member. Irene was known for her gift of hospitality and her kindness. Irene was loved by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by siblings, Lois Hansford, of Somerset and Charles Wendell (and Carol) Beshears of Dallas, TX.. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Clara Beshears of Nancy, and Barbara Hurst of Somerset. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews that were especially dear to her.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Hildred Beshears, Anna & (George) Burton, Versa & (Leo) Weintraub, Roy & (Thelma) Beshears, Kenneth Beshears, Edith & (Bert) Gossett, Gail Beshears, Louid & (Hazel) Beshears and a brother-in-law, Mr. Willard Hansford.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to her dear caregivers, Sherry Harrison and Barbara Hansford.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, October 22, 2018 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Stan Stevenson officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Visitation for Mrs. Irene Tarter Ard will be from 5-8 PM Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Pulaski Funeral Home
