Hazel Mayrene Branscum, age 98, of Somerset, KY passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019. She was born in the Norfleet Community on October 22, 1920, the daughter of the late Zollie and Stella Burton Tarter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Mr. Willard S. Branscum, her parents; two brothers, Leonard and Dale Tarter; four sisters, Jewel Tarter, Ferne Pennington, Geraldine Casada and Imogene Molen.
Survivors include; her children, Gene Branscum, Joan (and Gerald) Garner, Charlotte (and Jason) McPheron, Roger (and Lana) Branscum, and Terry Branscum; seven grandchildren, Barry (and Janice) Branscum, Kim (and Arthur) Crawford, Amy (and Gordie) Hotchkiss, Joey (and Sarah) McPheron, April (and Dr. "T") Thannoli, Ashley and Nikki Branscum; sixteen great grandchildren, Kathryn (and Spenser) Claiborne, Sarah (and Dakota) Brown, Matthew and Riley Crawford, Griffin, Abbey and Grant Hotchkiss, Jacob McPheron, Hayley Stephens, Jayden Giles, Nikas, Rylan and Ridge Thannoli, and Avery, Cason, and Presley Branscum and one great great grandchild, Rex Arthur Claiborne.
Hazel was a charter member of the Beacon Hill Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress from Palm Beach Clothing Company. Her joys in life were her church, her family and yard sales.
A funeral service for Hazel Mayrene Branscum will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at the Beacon Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Strader officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. The family of Mrs. Hazel Mayrene Branscum will receive friends at the Beacon Hill Baptist Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2019 and from 10 a.m. Tuesday morning until time for services Tuesday afternoon. In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.
