Edith McClendon

Edith J. McClendon, age 86, of Nancy, Kentucky passed from this life on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland.

She was born on June 14, 1932 in Vinnie, Kentucky, daughter of the late George and Mary Etta Barnes Johnson.

Edith was a lifetime member of Cook’s Chapel Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and a farmer and enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, quilting, going to church and being with her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Our loss is truly Heaven’s eternal gain.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward McClendon, whom she married on August 27, 1948 in Somerset, a brother Erthel Johnson and a sister Reddith Sowell.

She is survived by one son, Delvin (and Linda) McClendon of Somerset; one daughter Sue (and Bill) Denney of Nancy; five grandchildren, Amy Denney, Cindy (and Jay) Torcsh, Christi (and Scott) Hurt, Joey (and Tracy) McClendon and Genia Hardwick; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2018 in the Chapel of Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. David Muse, Bro. Scott Whittle and Bro. Josh McClendon officiating.

Interment will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Cook’s Chapel Methodist Church and/or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
