Dexter Belcher

Dexter Belcher, age 80, of Somerset, KY., passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Dexter was born on March 7, 1938 in Beverly, KY., to the late Matt Belcher and Ollie Brock Belcher. He was in the Indian Tribe Club in Somerset, KY and attended Mount Calvary Community Church. He loved horseback riding, exploring his Indian heritage, and watching westerns. Best of all, he loved playing with his grandchildren. Dexter married the love of his life, Nancy Ree Huff Belcher, on November 30, 1961 in Harlan, KY., and they spent 57 wonderful years together.

He is survived by Nancy Belcher of Somerset, KY; four sons, Kenneth (and Carolyn) Belcher of Somerset, KY; James Matthew (and Becky) Belcher of Somerset, KY;  Jason Burch of Tyner, KY and Jessie (and Melissa) Simpson of Tazewell, TN; one daughter, Stacie Anne (and Howard) Miller of Kodak, TN; eight grandchildren, Nancy (and Aaron) Cole, Amy (and Brad) Harness, Cathy (and Clay) Morris, Lorraine (and Travis) Belcher, Matthew Belcher, Donna Belcher, Zach Belcher, and Preston Belcher, ten great-grandchildren, Ethan Ely, Isabella Cole, Michal Cole, Malena Stucy, Sara Parker, Brayden Harness, Mamie Parker, Shane Wilson, Destiny and Conner Morris, and one sister, Lorraine Ballew Nolan of Somerset, KY; a special niece, Anita McFarland, and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Along with his parents, Matt and Ollie Belcher, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Tressie Lynne Turner and Amanda Pauline Belcher, one brother, Sie Saylor and two sisters, Beulah Alexander and Stacie Kelly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 after 5:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Pastor Red Adams officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jason Burch, Ethan Ely, Aaron Cole, Travis Wilson, Dylan Pennington, Alex Miller, and Matthew Belcher.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Mt. Calvary Community Church in Mt. Victory.
