Carl Stewart

April 11, 1919 — March 20, 2021

Carl B. “CB” Stewart, age 101, of Somerset, Kentucky peacefully went to heaven Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Lexington VA Hospital just 22 days before his 102nd birthday.

He and his wife, June, were members of 1st Baptist Church in Somerset, for 56 years. CB was a 50 year Mason and held a 32nd degree, also 50 year Eastern Star. He is a member of American Legion Post 38, DAV, a Kentucky Colonel, and served in WWII European Theater for 4 years after graduating from Warren Wilson Farm School in Asheville, NC in 1941.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June and is survived by his family: son, Darcy Stewart and spouse, Connie; grandson, Jesse Stewart and spouse, Victoria; and great-grandson, Simon; granddaughter, Lindsay Jansen and spouse, Robert, 2 great-grandsons, William and Jackson; grandson, Wesley Stewart and spouse, Rose; daughter, Pam Stewart Groves, grandson, Shawn Groves and great-grandson, Tyler Lamp and special acknowledgement to his cherished caregiver of 11 years, (DeDe) Melody Stull. CB was loved by all that knew him and will be missed, he is heaven with Jesus and his wife, June of 63 years, family and friends.

Funeral will be held at Southern Oaks Funeral Home on Friday, March 26, 2021. Family will receive friends at 12:00 P.M. with a funeral service to begin at 1:00 P.M. with long time family friend officiating, Ric Estes. A processional to Lakeside Memorial Gardens will follow. Guidelines for COVID must be followed, masks must be worn, please be sociably responsible. Family and friends are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to: Wounded Warrior Project and Disabled American Veterans.
